XtreemFS is open-source (BSD license) and free of charge.
We provide pre-built packages for a range of Linux distributions through the openSUSE build service.
For Windows and Mac OS X we only provide pre-compiled client packages.

Quobyte Inc. registered the XtreemFS® trademark to protect it for the community of the XtreemFS open source project and contributed the logo, web design and illustrations (© 2006-2015).
They forked the source code in 2013 for their own product.
Since then Quobyte Inc. does not contribute back to XtreemFS and does not provide financial support, unfortunately.
XtreemFS is developed as an open source project by Zuse Institute Berlin.
The project received funding from the EU projects XtreemOS (IST-FP6-033576), Contrail (FP7-ICT-257438), and HARNESS (FP7-ICT-318521), the German BMBF projects MoSGrid (01IG09006D), BBDC (01IS14013B) and GeoMultiSens (01IS14010C), the German project "First We Take Berlin", and the German DFG project FFMK (RE1389).
